EYE of the World crewmembers recently acquired and delivered their future home and base of operations, a 40' Rhodes Reliant. The vessel was purchased in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the beginning of May 2008, and over the next two weeks, sailed north to its current home, Crown Point Marina.
Crewmembers flew to Fort Lauderdale, prepped the vessel, and departed on Saturday, May 10th. On the morning of Saturday, May 17th, they picked up a third crewmember in Beaufort, South Carolina. By the following Tuesday, they had made it to Belhaven, North Carolina. Other obligations kept the crew from completing the delivery in one stretch, and so the boat was left in a slip for a few days.
On Friday, the EYE crew returned to the vessel and departed in the early hours of Saturday, eventually picking up guest crewmembers Alan Witt and Andrew Latimer. Together, the crew arrived in Hampton, Virginia by Sunday night. The next morning, Adam, Alan Stewart, and new guest crewmember Julia Brockman completed the voyage, arriving at Crown Point by midmorning. The boat is currently on the hard and undergoing a refit. Keep an eye out for updates. Additionally, any sailing voyage of this duration inevitably has many stories, and this trip is no exception. A detailed delivery log will be posted soon.
